Sepsis is characterized by a dysregulated host response to infection that leads to life-threatening organ dysfunction, commonly accompanying acute kidney injury (AKI), with a high mortality rate and poor prognosis. Microparticles are cystic vesicles produced by the plasma membrane to the outgoing bud and released into the cell, carrying microRNAs, transcription factors, and cytokines that are involved in the occurrence and development of diseases. Related studies have found that microparticles are involved in the pathophysiological process of sepsis-associated acute kidney injury and may serve as a potential biomarker. This review summarizes the current research on the role of microparticles in sepsis-associated AKI, to provide references for the research on clinical treatment strategies and preventive targets. |
