Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a common neurological disorder. Percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) of the trigeminal ganglion is one of the preferred surgical treatments for TN. However, trigeminocardiac reflex (TCR) is prone to occur during the procedure. The TCR is primarily characterized by sudden bradycardia and a sharp increase in blood pressure when the needle or balloon compression stimulates the trigeminal nerve. It can even lead to cardiac arrest, significantly increasing the risk of perioperative cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular accidents. Therefore, this article reviews recent advancements in this field, including the mechanism, influencing factors, prevention, and treatment of TCR, providing references for the prevention and treatment of TCR. |
