Circadian rhythm disruption plays an important role in aging, neurodegeneration, diabetes and the development of tumors. The expression of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) and the key enzymes related to the synthesis of NAD+ have remarkable circadian rhythm, which in turn is regulated by NAD+. Decreased NAD+ expression can lead to significant circadian disruption. Supplementing the precursor of NAD+ or promoting the generation of NAD+ can significantly relieve aging, neurodegeneration, diabetes and the occurrence of tumors while alleviating circadian rhythm disorders.
