Delayed awakening after general anesthesia seriously affects postoperative patient transport and recovery quality, its mechanism and related risks are not clear, and there is less of precise and effective comprehensive prevention and management. At present, adequate preoperative preparation, optimization of anesthesia plan and drug application, attention to organ function protection, and body temperature, and volume regulation are the main prevention methods. Timely assessment, prediction and pre-treatment, as well as the use of antagonistic and awakening drugs on the basis of symptomatic and supportive treatment, are the main treatment methods for delayed awakening. In addition, the application of acupuncture, acupoint stimulation and traditional Chinese medicine preparation in perioperative period greatly enrich the means of prevention and management of delayed awakening. This article reviews the recent studies on prevention and management of delayed awakening in both Chinese and Western medicine, in order to explore new ideas and methods of combining Chinese and Western medicine for improving the quality of awakening, preventing and treating delayed awakening in patients under general anesthesia. |
