| Artificial intelligence (AI) applications have brought revolutionary changes to patient care, pain assessment, and analgesic support. Traditional pain assessment methods, such as self-reports and observation tools, often suffer from issues with accuracy and consistency, and fail to meet the needs of personalized pain management. AI-based systems provide continuous, objective pain monitoring, enabling the optimization of individualized treatment plans and reducing human error. This paper reviews the broad applications of AI in pain management, covering the most advanced technologies and related literature from the past five years, with a focus on its role in pain level assessment, personalized pain management, and addressing analgesic needs. Additionally, it discusses the challenges in current research, including bias, data scarcity, and clinical practicality. |
